The Last of Us Part I: Ellie Winter Costume

“Any sudden moves and I put one right between your eyes.”

Winter is one of several costumes that I had the opportunity to make for Ellie in The Last of Us Part I.

Being as Winter is my favorite chapter of the game, getting the chance to work on this costume was very special. Larry Kameen had created the sculpt for the jacket and hoodie, and I was responsible for final lowpoly and textures. Additional texture work was done to her pants and shoes for the Winter chapter, as well as procedural snow for the entire costume. Head, hair and hands were created by Soa Lee. Rifle was created by the foreground team.
During the final texturing phase of this costume, years of experience working within the TLOU universe came into full effect. Achieving a high level of grime and wear balanced with a clear visual flow and hierarchy was of utmost importance. Blood for the ending cinematic was done by Robert Smith.
Art direction and guidance were provided by Darcy Korch and Care Michaud.
