As a student, Gnomon Workshop DVDs were a coveted item and passed among the students of my college program with reverence. So when I was approached to create a course of my own, I couldn't possibly say no. I've spent the better part of this year creating an 11-chapter course on my entire personal art process, from ideation to final render in Marmoset Toolbag.
This course is intended for anyone who wants to know more about character art, or specifically how I go about my pipeline and approach everything, from idea generation, to likeness and facial anatomy, clothing creation, texturing, and even the creative process itself.
If you'd like to check out this course and many great ones all under the same subscription, or know someone who would, please share this link to the course on the Gnomon Workshop website: https://thegnomonworkshop.com/tutorials/creating-a-character-bust-from-ideation-to-final-render
I took the chance to create this piece of my original character, Rav, who has been around since 2009 and taken a few different forms over the years. Although I love doing fan art and adding my own spin on existing characters, there is something refreshing about returning to my own character after so long. For years I've had a vision of him with half of his face bathed in the glow of sunset. A couple times I'd tried to paint it when I was still studying 2D. I think there is more yet to be done on this project, but for now it's a great feeling to see that vision come to life.
I hope you enjoy this course and learn something new, as I had a blast making it and learned so much along the way. Thank you to The Gnomon Workshop for the opportunity!
Thanks for looking, cheers everyone, and happy creating!
